Prior to joining Marks & Clerk in 2016, Erik studied History and Politics at the University of Glasgow and obtained an LLM in International Law from the University of Edinburgh. Erik initially started as an IP Administrator and completed the CITMA Paralegal course in 2017.
Erik became a trainee Trade Mark Attorney at the beginning of 2018 and became fully qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in November 2020. In December 2020, Erik relocated to Luxembourg and continues to act as a Professional Representative before the EU Intellectual Property Office.
Whereas Erik’s primary focus is with contentious and non-contentious Trade Mark matters, he is also equipped to provide basic advice on matters involving Copyright and Design.
As a member of the Scottish Trade Marks team, Erik has exposure to a variety of clients representing the varied commercial landscape in Scotland. In particular, Erik works on a daily basis with clients in the Food and Beverage, Fashion and Retail, Software, Financial Services, Automotive, and Oil and Gas industries.
Erik can speak Estonian, English, German, and Russian. Erik is also actively learning French.
