Kyle Arndt

About me

Kyle is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney specialising in the field of physics and drafts, files and prosecutes mechanical and electronics patent applications in the UK, Europe and internationally. Kyle handles cases in fields including automotive, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, oil and gas, optical technologies, semiconductors, telecommunications and water treatment/distribution. In addition to advising clients on all aspects of IP relating to patents, from protection through to enforcement and strategic management of third party IP risks, Kyle also advises on registered and unregistered design rights.

Kyle graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Masters degree in Physics in 2009. His final year Masters project involved developing an optical cavity auto-alignment system for gravitational wave detectors.

Before joining Marks & Clerk as a trainee in 2012, Kyle was employed at BAE Systems Submarine Solutions for three years working on the design, build, test and commissioning of the Astute class and Vanguard replacement nuclear submarines. This included placements researching damage to radiation detectors, designing and testing a directed energy prototype, operations improvement in a nuclear build facility, submarine construction experience and working in the Ministry of Defence onsite project team. In his final year at BAE Systems, Kyle worked as the liaison point on all mechanical engineering issues between BAE Systems and Rolls Royce in Derby to support the interface of the Nuclear Steam Raising plant into the submarine design.
