Grant scheme to help EU-based SMEs protect intellectual property is now open

A grant scheme designed to help EU-based SMEs is now open for applications. SMEs can apply for grants of up to €1,000 for patent registration costs, €1,500 for the legal costs of drafting and filing European patent applications and up to €750 for trademark or design registration costs.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are essential to increase the value of a company and become more attractive for investments. Protecting your IP assets is crucial!

What is the SME Fund 2025?

  • It's a European Commission initiative implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and will run from 3 February 2025 to 5 December 2025 but usually closes earlier …as funds run out!
  • It offers financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) established in the European Union.
  • It can help protect many different assets, including trade marks, designs, patents and plant varieties.
  • Grants are awarded in the form of vouchers that the beneficiary can use to claim a reimbursement, for various IP-related activities such as applications for trade marks, designs, patents etc.
