Chris is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney and primarily works in the fields of electronic and electrical engineering, medical devices, sensors, semiconductor fabrication, mechanical engineering, physics, imaging, robotics, energy, oil and gas technologies, construction technology, and automotive engineering.
Chris’ expertise spans drafting and prosecuting global patent and registered design portfolios, IP due diligence, freedom to operate searching and reviews, strategic management of IP, IP audit, and enforcement of IP rights. Chris has significant experience advising SMEs and start-ups.
Chris was born and educated in Scotland, and holds a MEng. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering, both from the University of Glasgow. Chris’ PhD focussed on the design and fabrication of implantable biodegradable electronics for peripheral nerve repair. The MEng included two industrial placements at Texas Instruments working on power management integrated circuits.
Before joining the patent profession, Chris worked as a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow within a multi-disciplinary research team tasked with creating a biosensor for obtaining measurements of the human metabolome.
Chris has been recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ in Scotland by Managing Intellectual Property in 2022 and 2023.
