Sophie is a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney with experience in the fields of biotechnology (including peptide vaccines, enzymes, immuno-oncology and gene-based inventions), medical devices (such as vascular grafts and stents, and dental barrier membranes) and food technology.
Sophie handles the preparation, filing and prosecution of applications, in particular, in Europe, the UK, the US, China and Japan, as well as other commercially important jurisdictions. She also has experience providing strategic advice to clients ranging from small companies and university technology transfer departments through to large multinational companies, advising on infringement and freedom-to-operate, and representing clients before the UK Patent Office and the European Patent Office.
Prior to joining Marks & Clerk in December 2011, Sophie graduated from Cambridge University where she read Natural Sciences and specialised in physiology, development and neuroscience. In 2015, she received the Michael Jones Prize for the highest mark in the UK Advanced Amendment of Specifications Examination, and she qualified as a European Patent Attorney in July 2016. Sophie is bilingual in French and English, and has a basic knowledge of Spanish.
