Pamela is experienced in preparing, filing and prosecuting mechanical, electronic and software patent applications in the UK and internationally. She works with clients in a range of industries and has gained particular experience in the areas of financial technology, semiconductors, oil and gas, molten metal casting, fluid dynamics and control, medical devices and prostheses, building and construction technologies, the transport industry, antenna designs, computer architecture, business methods and consumer products. She is also experienced in handling UK, European, Singaporean and international design registrations and was responsible for setting up our Design and Copyright Practice Group. In addition, Pamela advises on contentious and strategic matters relating to patents, registered and unregistered design rights and copyright.
Pamela graduated from the University of St Andrews in the UK with an honours degree in Physics with Photonics. Before entering the patent profession in 2002, and subsequently joining Marks & Clerk in 2005, Pamela spent almost two years working for Marconi as a research scientist in the field of optical components. In particular, she worked on the development of novel tunable lasers for use in optical telecommunication systems. After spending 10 years primarily based in our Birmingham office, Pamela transferred to Singapore in 2015 to lead the software group there, before moving to our Edinburgh office in 2018.
As an active member of our in-house training team, Pamela has designed and delivered numerous training sessions on various aspects of IP and related IT systems. She is therefore extremely well-equipped to design and deliver IP-related training and/or seminars to clients and industry groups.
